4 Reasons to Niche Your Coaching Practice

If you have not yet chosen a niche and decided to focus your efforts on it you may be experiencing a lot of frustration in attracting clients into your coaching practice. There are a number of reasons for this but the main ones are as follows:

1. You don't really know who your clients are - Sure, you'd like to have more clients in your coaching practice but you just can't seem to define the type of clients you want with sufficient clarity. No wonder you find it hard to attract them. How can you hit a target that you can hardly see?

Your clients are currently defined as 'anyone and everyone' but at the moment it's nearly no-one. In the words of Fats Domino - Ain't that a shame.

2. You don't know where to find your clients - If you're unclear on who your clients are then you'll obviously find it hard to know where to find them. If you don't know where to find them, how are you going to attract clients into your practice in the first place?

3. You don't know what your clients want - If you don't know who your clients are or where to find them then it naturally follows that you'll find it hard to define exactly what they want. Think about it - how can you position yourself as the person who can give 'it' to them if you don't know what 'it' is that they want?

Remember: The main purpose of a business is to find and keep a customer. This applies to coaching practices too you know! If you don't know who your clients are, where to find them or what they want do you really have a business?

F'ree Teleclass: How to Niche Your Coaching Practice

On Wednesday, 26th January, 2005 at 8pm UK time, I'll be delivering a teleclass on How to Niche Your Coaching Practice. It's f'ree and I'll be sending out comprehensive notes before and after the teleclass.

To register, just send an e-mail to me. If you do not receive details within 24 hours then please e-mail me and I'll send the details to you personally.

If you've not participated in a teleclass before it really is simple and fun. It's basically a telephone call where a group of people can be on the line at the same time.

> 4 Reasons to niche your coaching practice

Here are 4 major reasons for you to consider niching your coaching practice:

1. Clarity - If you decide to niche your practice then you will gain a lot of clarity. Clarity brings with it power - the power to see and decide what is best for you.

Once you become clear on who your clients are, where to find them and what they want the m@rketing of your coaching practice will become so much easier.

2. Focus - After niching your practice you will be able to focus your resources of time, m0ney and energy to get better results in less time. You'll identify the most effective activities to be involved in to grow your practice and ditch the rest.

3. Uniqueness - If you don't currently have a niche then you'll be bundled with the rest of the 'me too' generalist life coaches out there at the moment. The reality is that their numbers are increasing on a weekly basis. Why would someone choose you?

By deciding on a niche, you have the potential to separate yourself from the rest of the pack and give people a reason to select you.

4. Know your customer - Another major benefit of choosing a niche for your coaching practice is that you will get to really know your customer and what they want. Because you've taken the time to find out what they want you will then be in a better position to show them that you can help them to get it.

So, do you have enough reasons to niche your coaching practice?
