5 Criteria for Your Lucrative Niche

If you've decided that you want to niche your coaching practice then you may have a large number of potential niches that you could go after. But how do you choose the best one for you? Well, that's exactly what we'll be looking at in this issue of the newsletter.

> The toughest step

In my time working with coaches they find that choosing a niche can be the hardest step of all. More importantly, it's usually also one of the first steps that needs to be taken to begin to finally make a difference to attracting a stream of clients into your coaching practice. However, it is vital that you choose a niche that is worth going after in the first place...

F'ree Teleclass: How to Niche Your Coaching Practice

On Wednesday, 26th January, 2005 at 8pm UK time, I'll be delivering a teleclass on How to Niche Your Coaching Practice. It's f'ree and I'll be sending out comprehensive notes after the teleclass.

To register, just send an e-mail to me. If you do not receive details before 7pm then please e-mail me and I'll send the details to you personally.

If you've not participated in a teleclass before it really is simple and fun. It's basically a telephone call where a group of people can be on the line at the same time.

> 5 criteria for a lucrative niche

Here are the 5 main criteria with which to assess the potential of the niches you have identified for your coaching practice so far. Ideally, they will fit all five of the following criteria:

1. They've got a problem - Most effective businesses are set up to help people to solve their problems. Is yours?

Does your niche have real problems that you can clearly identify and help them with?

2. They know they've got a problem - Although you may be able to see the problems of your niche, it's also vital that they are acutely aware of them too. If this is not the case then you'll spend a lot of time, energy and m0ney educating them that they have a problem.

For example, over six years ago my first business was in the area of teaching people how to learn effectively using the principles of Accelerated Learning. The challenge was that most people didn't know what Accelerated Learning was much less what it could really do for them.

Is your niche aware that they have a problem?

3. They are easily accessible - If your niche have a problem and know that they have a problem that's great. However, it is also vital that you can access them easily. This will enable you to get close to them, identify what they want and demonstrate how you can help them as a coach.

Can you easily access your niche?

4. They can afford to p@y you - Unless you wish to set up as a charity, your niche will need to be able to afford the type of f'ees you want to live the lifestyle you desire.

Can your niche afford you?

5. They want to solve their problem today - This is where the rubber really hits the road. Yes they may have a problem that they are aware of. But do they want to dip their hands in their pockets to begin to make progress to solve their problems today?

Does your niche want to solve their problems today?

So, what's the most lucrative niche for your coaching practice?

With very best wishes,
