During complimentary consultations with prospective clients, I find that I am asked a number of common questions about myself and my practice so I'll cover my responses here.

Do you have a successful practice Shaun?

I have a successful practice that allows me to live life on my terms. I have great flexibility to work from home and I get plenty of time off too. Long weekends are the norm for me now.

I'm now in the fortunate position of having prospective clients from the UK and Europe calling me to work with me rather than having to run around chasing clients. Around 80% of people who contact me for a consultation sign-up as clients so I think that's a pretty successful conversion rate.

My main marketing activities include writing a weekly newsletter, providing monthly teleclasses and delivering occasional presentations. These methods allow me to market myself in an enjoyable way.

Why would I choose you as my marketing mentor?

Of course there are an increasing number of coaches and mentors out there who offer services to help you to build a successful practice. Some are better than others, but why would you choose me?

Here are a number of my key characteristics that can help you to rule me in (or rule me out!) as your marketing mentor:

Step-by-step - Due to my previous professional background as a Mechanical Engineer, I have a very logical, systematic and step-by-step approach to building a successful coaching practice. I find that a number of clients really value this approach.

As a result of my step-by-step approach you'll know that you're taking strategic steps forward to market your coaching practice more successfully.

Client-focus - By becoming a client you are more than just a name or a file in my practice cabinet - you are a dear friend who I want to see succeed and make the difference and living you deserve to make in this world.

I realise that the more I help you to attract clients, the bigger difference you will make in the world - and that thought excites me.

Commitment to Excellence - I take my own development very seriously and realise that I can only give you more value if I continuously develop myself.

These are not just mere words on a page. For example, here are two development projects I'm working on this year:

Mission Marketing Mentors Publishing Program - This year I am involved in a book publishing program with John Eggen. In case you don't know, John Eggen is a worldwide publishing expert whose clients include best selling authors such as Mark Victor Hansen, Robert G. Allen, Brian Tracy and many others.

Jay Abraham Insiders' Club - I'm participating in a group mentoring program with the marketing genius Jay Abraham. Jay Abraham is widely regarded as one of the best marketing minds on the planet today. Who else could it be better for me to learn more from?

What did you do before you became involved in coaching?

Immediately before becoming involved in coaching I had a training business where I taught people how to learn more easily using principles of Accelerated Learning.

Professionally, I qualified as a Materials Engineer from Loughborough University (BEng 1994, MSc 1995) and went to work as an engineer for 2 1/2 years before deciding it wasn't the right career for me. Some people regarded this as a waste but I prefer to view it as a necessary part of of my life's journey ;-)

What do you in your time off?

I'm an avid guitarist and I'm currently learning Flamenco guitar and expanding my ability at playing Acoustic Blues guitar too. To hear a sample of me playing guitar, I'll be posting some clips soon. Make sure your speakers are turned on and you may want to use ear protection too ;-)

I also love walking in nature and I'm fortunate to live on the edge of a nature reserve. I'll be posting a sneak peak of the view from my office window. It's a delight to look out and watch nature in full flow and observe the change in seasons over time. Watch this space.

I have a passion for Italy, since studying there in 1995, and I now travel to Italy often. My favourite Italian cities to date include Rome, Florence and Venice.
