Are
You Churning and Burning?
Do
you find that you are spending a lot of time attracting clients
into your coaching practice only for them to move on within
a few months? This is a common challenge within coaching and
can lead to a lot of frustration for you - if you don't have
a strategy to counteract it.
Obviously
you don't want to work with a client any longer than they need
you to - that would be unethical. At the same time, you don't
want to work with a client for less time than is required for
them to make the changes they desire and deserve. It's a delicate
balance.
Here's
a pattern I noticed in my coaching practice years ago when I
used to do general life coaching (shudder)...
A client would come on board and have weekly sessions for the
first couple of months. Then they'd ask to go fortnightly. Then
monthly. Then they'd seemingly disappear off the face of the
earth and I then went around uttering the 'I need more clients'
mantra.
I've
since moved away from working with clients on a very loose 'per
month basis' to packaging my services and requiring that they
commit to a program up front. The program is developed to deliver
the key results the clients want in a reasonable timescale.
Without this, a client can come into your practice and not work
with you long enough for them to achieve the results they really
desire.
For
an example of how this works, have a look at the Practice
Starter Program.
Are
You Making These Marketing Mistakes?
Do
you know the biggest marketing mistake you're making in your
coaching practice at the moment? If not, it could be hurting
your coaching practice unnecessarily. In my time helping coaches
to build their practices, I've found that there are 5 common
mistakes coaches make in attempting to attract clients. Are
you making these mistakes?
On
Wednesday, 30th November at 8pm UK Time (3pm EST, 12 noon PST),
I'll be delivering an informative teleclass on The
5 Biggest Mistakes Coaches Make in Their Practice.
If you'd like to be a part of this complimentary teleclass,

Getting out of churning and burning
Here
are some areas to consider to help you to move away from the
frustration of churning and burning:
1.
Identify Outcomes - Take
the time to identify the key outcomes that you know your target
market desire. Yep - if you don't have a target market yet
you could even find this first step challenging.
2.
Develop a Package - Bring the key outcomes that you
know your clients want together and package your coaching
services to make them more tangible and desirable.
3.
Decide on a Timescale - At first, you may need to
estimate how long your coaching package will take for the
client to work through and get the results they desire. Pick
a timescale (and charge accordingly).
4.
Request Commitment - Request
that new clients commit to your coaching package rather than
an undetermined number of coaching sessions.
So,
are you churning and burning?
With very best
wishes,
Shaun
