Big
Yes, Easy No
You
may have times when you become discouraged that not many people
are taking you up on your offer to be their coach. However,
take a close look at what you're asking people to do. Are you
asking for a big yes or a little yes? Let me explain...
A
number of coaches go for the jugular and try to turn a prospect
into a client in as short a time as possible with the minimum
number of steps. It rarely works. In effect they're asking a
complete stranger to warm up to becoming a paying client in
jig time. The initial yes they're asking for is just too big.
And a big yes often leads to an easy no.
Consider
asking for a 'little yes' first instead and watch the number
of people interested in benefiting from your coaching services
increase over time. In this case a little yes is harder to say
no to.
It's
a bit like the difference between asking for a one night stand
and developing a long romance. Are you being a romancer or a
rogue?
Ask
for a number of 'little yeses' and then you'll finally get some
people who take you up on your bigger offer to become a client.
But how do you do it?

Ways to get an easy yes...
Here
are a number of strategies to give people an offer that is easy
to say yes to. You can even offer a series of these:
1.
F'ree report - People like to get something for nothing
and a f'ree report (electronic or printed) is a quick way
of getting an easy yes. I have a preference for the electronic
version as it's obtained instantly and it doesn't cost much
at all. However, the format you choose may depend upon your
choice of target market.
2.
Newsletter - A newsletter is another offer you can
make to people that makes it easy for them to say yes. However,
it's getting harder now as so many other people have newsletters
out there competing for space in their inbox. I prefer to
offer a f'ree report and add people to the newsletter in the
process.
Make
sure that you write great content and deliver true value to
them though. This is crucial.
An
additional benefit of a newsletter is that you can then communicate
with them over time so they get to learn the real benefits
of what you have to offer.
3.
Teleclass - A f'ree teleclass is a way for you to
reach a larger number of people at one time and deliver value
to them. It's also a way of developing the relationship further
as people get used to how you sound and the quality of your
work.
4.
Consultation - This is the offer I commonly see coaches
make and I believe that it's made way too soon. Warm people
up with the previous steps first and then they'll be more
likely to take you up on your offer of a consultation at a
later date.
What
other 'little yeses' can you think of that you could use in
your coaching practice?
So,
is your big yes leading to an easy no?

wishes,
