Do
You Want to Go to Bed with Me?
I
hope the title of this week's newsletter surprised you and maybe
even raised your eyebrows. Obviously, I'm not serious about
the proposition in the title but I've seen a number of coaches
use a similar approach in the marketing of their coaching practice.
Let me explain...
I've
observed some coaches try to short-cut the process of turning
a complete stranger into a paying client. They often meet a
prospective client and then try to get them interested in coaching
and a complimentary session right away. This is the d@ting equivalent
of meeting a girl or guy at a party and asking them to go to
bed with you on the first night. Hey, it may work but you're
more likely to get a slap in the face!
Staying
with the d@ting analogy, a more effective approach is to court
the prospective client over time and build the relationship
where you begin to know, like and trust each other. There's
no need to rush things and order the wedding cake just yet ;-)
So,
what process are you currently using to turn prospects into
clients? Are you going too fast?
Do
You Want to Build a Successful Coaching Practice?
Together
with a number of other top coaches in the UK, I'll be delivering
a workshop at the Coaching Essentials event on Wednesday 6th

This
promises to be a great event that will provide you with strategies
on how you can build your own successful coaching practice.

Tips for a better process
Here
are a few tips to help you to increase the number of prospects
that turn into clients (note the similarities with d@ting):
1.
Take your time - There really is no need to rush
things. In fact if you do rush into this you may just repel
the prospective client rather than attracting them. Be patient
and develop a process that gradually warms people up to the
idea of working with you.
2.
Follow-up - Follow up with the prospective client
in a professional manner after the first meeting and beyond.
For
example, you may follow-up with them after your initial meeting
by sending them a letter and maybe even an article that would
be of interest to them.
3.
Keep in touch - Find ways to consistently deliver
value to them over time so they begin to see the usefulness
of your services. You can then educate them on the benefits
of working with you and when they are ready they will contact
you.
For
example, you may consider having a newsletter that consistently
delivers valuable content to them and educates them on how
you can help them.
4.
Make offers - In your communications with the prospect
make a series of offers to get them to come closer to you.
This may not necessarily be asking them to book a complimentary
consultation. Instead, invite them to take a small and easy
step such as requesting a report, booking on a teleclass or
visiting a special page of your website.
P.S.
Have you booked onto the
f'ree Client Attracting Website Teleclass on
29th June at 8pm UK time?
The
teleclass
will focus on the key elements of a client attracting website.
The content will be first class and I'll be following up afterwards
with comprehensive notes and an audio too. Just send an e-mail
to websiteteleclass@authenticpractice.com.
If you don't receive the confirmation e-mail within 24 hours,
then e-mail me and I'll send the details on to you personally.
Thanks!
With very best
wishes,
