Make
a Bigger Difference
Last
night I attended a teleclass hosted by Andrea J. Lee, the author
of Multiple Steams of Coaching Inc0me. On the call she challenged
us to work on the following question for homework:
"What
is the boldest, most outrageous and provocative
statement that you could make to your market right now?"
I
thought about it overnight and it helped to refine a thought
that I've wanted to share with you for a while now. So, here
it is...
"Your
marketing ability will determine
the magnitude of the difference you make
in the world through your coaching."
Please
realise the implications of the italicised statement above.
Sure,
your coaching ability will have an influence too, but if you
don't attract the clients into your practice in the first place
then there will be nobody to coach anyways :-)
If
your marketing ability is poor at the moment then your potential
impact in the world through your coaching will be limited. Why?
If you're poor at marketing, you won't attract many clients
into your practice. Therefore, you'll not reach as many people
as you otherwise could if your marketing abilities were better.
In
contrast, if you take the time to develop your marketing abilities
you will be able to attract more clients into your practice
and therefore have the potential to make a difference in your
client's lives. Also, due to the ripple effect, you will have
an impact on the lives that your clients touch too.
That
said, it all starts with improving your marketing ability so
you can attract and work with clients in the first place.

Tips to improve your marketing ability and make a bigger difference
Here
are some tips to help you to improve your marketing ability
and therefore attract more clients so that you can make a bigger
difference in the world:
1.
Decide - Becoming a better marketer starts with making
a decision to do so. List the reasons why it's important to
you that you improve your marketing ability. What are the
main benefits to you and your clients?
2.
Learn - Set aside time to develop your marketing
ability on a regular basis so that you become better with
time. You may consider having a set time each week to learn
more about becoming better at marketing your coaching service.
Your
practice will grow to the extent that you do :-)
3.
Invest - Set aside a monthly budget for investing
in improving your marketing ability. You can invest this in
books, audios, teleclasses, mentoring, etc. In my experience,
money invested in self-education has returned itself ten fold.
So,
is your marketing ability the bottleneck for you to make a bigger
difference?
