Do Business with People...
I'm
sure that you've heard the phrase that 'people do business with
people.' However, are you applying this knowledge in your coaching
practice?
This
sentence is often extended to say that...
People
do business with people they know, like and trust
There
are also 3 criteria that people often use for not doing
business with you. Do you know what they are? Well...
They
may not believe you. They may not understand you. Finally,
it may not be the right time for them.
Many
coaches I meet have not developed a sufficient number of strategies
to deal with the business realities given above. Some naïvely
expect their brochure or website to do all the work to deal
with the points mentioned so far. What about you?
If
you have not developed ways for people to get to know like and
trust you then you will simply struggle to attract new clients.
Likewise, if you're not looking at how you can help people to
believe and understand what you are offering them, then you
will find growing your practice a constant challenge.
So

The 3 elements...
Here
are some additional points to consider on the 3 elements mentioned
above:
1.
People do business with people - Are you presenting
the personable side to your coaching practice or trying to
pass yourself off as a more corporate body?
For
example, are you using a photo on your brochure or website?
What about your personal profile? How can you inject it with
more of the essence of you so people have a real flavour of
who they could be doing business with?
2.
Know, like and trust - What are you doing in your
practice so people can get to know, like and trust first before
they consider doing business with you?
Once
people know, like and trust you they will feel more comfortable
approaching you to work with them. This is especially the
case for the very personable and often intimate service of
coaching.
3.
Believe, understand and timing - What are you doing
to help people to believe and understand what you're offering?
What are you doing so that you can present your coaching service
to them when the timing is right for them?
Once
people believe and understand you they'll be more open to
utilising your coaching service. If you implement strategies
to give people multiple exposures to your offering you'll
be more likely to meet them when the timing is right for them.
A
key strategy in my practice for dealing with the business realities
