Practice
Development Time
Do
you allocate regular time each week to focus on where you want
to get to in your coaching practice and how you're going to
get there? If not, you could find that you consume a lot of
time needlessly moving in the wrong direction when a course
correction could have been more easily made up stream - if only
you'd taken the time to stop and think. Let me explain...
The
reality is that building your own successful coaching practice
will take you time, effort, discipline and focus (amongst other
things). There are so many things to think about: coaching clients,
attracting clients, handling invoices and other admin. It's
so easy to get lost working in your practice instead of working
on it too.
You
may have already heard of the concept of working on your business
instead of just in it and this idea was popularised by Michael
Gerber in his great book The
E-Myth Revisited. If you've not yet read this book I'd highly
recommend you do so. More importantly, apply the concepts contained
therein.
For the past year, I've been allocating a full day each week
as my Practice Development Day and it's made a huge difference
to my effectiveness and contentment. For me, Practice Development
is done on a Monday and that's when I focus on where I'm going
in my practice and where I need to change track. I chose a Monday
as it's symbolic of the importance of this activity and really
puts first things first.
(Incidentally,
Tuesdays-Thursdays are Client Days where I deliver my service
to clients and Fridays are for Marketing and some Administration).
What's
Your Biggest Marketing Mistake?
Do
you know the biggest marketing mistake you're making in your
coaching practice at the moment? If not, it could be hurting
your coaching practice unnecessarily. In my time helping coaches
to build their practices, I've found that there are 5 common
mistakes coaches make in attempting to attract clients. Are
you making these mistakes?
On
Wednesday, 30th November at 8pm UK Time (3pm EST, 12 noon PST),
I'll be delivering an informative teleclass on The
5 Biggest Mistakes Coaches Make in Their Practice.
If you'd like to be a part of this complimentary teleclass,
just send a blank e-mail.
If
you don't receive details within 24 hours, then please let me
know and I will send them on to you personally.

Tips on Practice Development Time
Here
are some questions to consider during your practice development
time:
1.
Where are you now? - Take
the time to get clear on where you currently are in your coaching
practice. What's working well? What's not working? What are
you going to do about it?
2.
Where are you going? - Where are you going in your
coaching practice if you remain on your present path? Is this
where you want to take your coaching practice?
3.
How are you going to get there? - What action steps
are required to take your practice to where you really want
to get to? When are you going to take these action steps?
4.
What needs to change? - What
are you currently doing in your coaching practice that's not
producing the results you want? What are you going to change
and by when?
P.S.
If you've not yet got The E-myth Revisited by Michael Gerber,
I'd highly recommend you do so. It contains a lot of other brilliant
ideas in addition to the distinction of working on your business
instead of just in it. You can read
some of the other reviews of the book at Amazon.
So,
when is your practice development time?
With very best
wishes,
Shaun
