The
Gold in Your Coaching Practice
Did
you know that you have hidden reserves of gold inside your coaching
practice? If this is true, would you know where to look for
them? No? Well...
It
took me a while to discover this important source (about 2 years
into my coaching career in fact). When I learnt what I am about
to share with you I nearly slapped myself on the forehead and
uttered the Simpson-esque word 'Doh!'
I see other coaches making a similar mistake to the one I made
years ago, i.e. running around like a headless chicken in the
pursuit of the apparently Holy Grail of attracting more clients.
You may discover that this turns out to be a mirage.
Well
guess what - make sure you focus on the clients you already
have and serve them to the very best of your abilities. Moreover,
develop a series of other offerings so that your current clients
come back for more of your services at a later date. You can
then spend less time focusing on attracting new clients and
use your energies to deliver value to the clients you already
have.
By
the way,
I covered the 4
Ways to Grow a Coaching Practice in a previous newsletter
in January 2004 and getting more clients is only one of the
ways mentioned. Do you know what the other three are? Have
a look to find out.

Tips on mining the gold in your coaching practice
Here
are some pointers to help you to increase the amount you extract
from your coaching practice:
1.
Deliver - Make sure you focus on delivering value
to your clients so that they have a positive experience of
working with you. In fact, under promise and over deliver
and that way they'll know who to come to if they want more
next time.
Are
you really delivering a great service to your clients or just
going through the motions and delivering an 'acceptable' level?
2.
Extend - Develop a series of additional products
and services that would be of benefit to your current clients.
For example, some coaches offer teleclasses, workshops, and
electronic products to extend the range of ways that they
can deliver results that they know their clients want.
What
else do you think your clients need after they have first
worked with you? What else can you give them to continue to
enrich their lives?
3.
Keep in touch - Ensure that you remain in contact
with your past and current clients so that you remain top
of mind for when they next have a need for your coaching service.
What
are you doing to remain in contact with your past and current
clients?
4.
Offer - Continue to offer your clients additional
products and services that you know would enrich their lives
and give them the results they desire. The main point is that
these additional products and services are in the best interests
of your client, not just yourself.
What
other options are you presenting your past and current clients
with?
So,
where is the gold in your coaching practice?
With very best
wishes,
