The
Invisible Barrier
Did
you know that there is an invisible barrier that can block prospective
clients from deciding to use your coaching service? If you take
steps to shrink or eliminate this barrier, you'll find more
and more people decide to work with you. So what is it?
Whenever
a prospective client is considering working with you there is
a certain amount of uncertainty involved. Who shoulders this
in dealings with your practice - you or the prospective client?
You
see, before a prospect decides to move forward and use your
coaching services they are silently wondering if it will work
out for them. They may also be worried that things may not work
out at all. They may be concerned that they'll make a wrong
decision and end up looking dumb.
Often,
potential clients decide to procrastinate and not become a client
at all so you both suffer. They don't get to experience the
benefits of your coaching and you don't get to attract another
client into your coaching practice. So, how are you dealing
with these realities in your practice?
I
prefer to deal with this invisible (though highly influential)
barrier head on.
Can
I Help You with Your Most Pressing Question?
Over
the past year I've been developing a series of products on different
aspects of building a coaching practice. Over the next year
I'll be releasing each on in turn - I'm just not sure which
one to release first :-)
If
you answer
this ultra-short questionnaire to provide some feedback
you can ask me the most burning question you have in your coaching
practice and I'll give you a detailed and personal response.

Tips on dealing with the invisible barrier
Here
are some tips on how to deal with the invisible barrier in your
coaching practice:
1.
Prepare for it - Appreciate that this barrier exists
and develop ways to counteract it in your practice.
2.
Address it - Address this in the conversation with
the prospective client if it arises or bring it up pro-actively.
For example:
"I
can understand that you may be unsure if my coaching service
is right for you at this point in time. I'm sure you don't
want to move forward and then discover that it's not right
for you."
3.
You take the chance, not them - Instead of letting
them take a chance on your service, change things so you take
a chance on them. For example:
"Here's
what I recommend we do. Let's move together into the first
month of our coaching relationship so you'll be able to experience
the benefits you desire. If you get to the end of the very
first session and you decide that it's not for you, just let
me know and I'll return your fee in full."
By
the way, if
you'd like to experience the benefits of my services (such as
the Practice
Starter Program) 'on my chance rather than yours' then just
send me an e-mail to request your complimentary consultation.
So,
how are you dealing with the invisible barrier?
With very best
wishes,
Shaun
