Using
Teleclasses to Attract Clients
I'm
often contacted by coaches who are investigating the possibility
of putting on a workshop in an attempt to attract clients into
their practice. Now, putting on a workshop can be a great way
to attract clients into your coaching practice - depending on
your target market of course. However, there are potential downsides...
For
physical events where people meet up such as workshops and seminars
you'll need a lot of planning. You'll need to book the function
room and most probably place a retainer down to confirm the
date. Oh - then you need to attract people to the venue whilst
also developing the content. This can be quite a risky proposition
especially if you don't attract the numbers you were expecting.
Teleclasses
are a different kettle of fish. You can book a 'bridge line'
for nothing (A 'bridge line' is a telephone facility that allows
a group of people to dial the same telephone number and be on
a group call). Also, there's no travel involved except perhaps
going upstairs into a quiet room to deliver the call :-)
Here
are two bridge line providers I recommend and use:
If
your callers are happy to phone the US - FreeConference.com
You
simply book your line for the designated time and away you go.
I've been using these for a year now and the quality and reliability
of their lines have been fantastic. You and your callers only
have to pay for the call to the US bridge line.
Note:
I use www.1899.com
as this allows me to phone the bridge line for 1p/min with just
a 3p connection charge. So an hour's call is just 63p - wow!
However,
your target market may not be familiar or comfortable with calling
the US. In that case, consider a UK 'bridge line' provider such
as Powwownow . In this
case you and your callers will need to phone an 0870 number
which is usually 6-10p/minute depending upon your provider and
the time of day.
But
how do you then deliver a useful teleclass?
How
to Set Your Coaching Fees Teleclass
Are
you unsure about how to charge for your coaching services? Maybe
you feel uncomfortable discussing this topic with prospective
clients. Well, on Wednesday, 21st September at 8pm (3pm EST
and 12noon PST), I will be delivering an informative teleclass
on how you can set the fees in your coaching practice.
To get your complimentary place on the teleclass, just send
a blank e-mail.
If
you don't receive details within 24 hours then please let me
know and I'll send the details to you personally.

Tips on developing a useful teleclass
Here
are some steps that you can take to use teleclasses as a way
of attracting clients for your coaching practice:
1.
Practice - If you've not used this medium before,
consider inviting your friends and/or coaching colleagues
onto some dry run calls.
2.
Ask - Before developing your content, ask your attendees
what they want well in advance of the call. This will help
you to develop the content more easily.
I
use another complimentary service from www.surveymonkey.com
to send a pre-teleclass questionnaire and find out what people
want to get from the call. This makes sure the content is
relevant to their needs rather than my perception of their
needs.
3.
Develop Content - Use the responses from those who
complete the questionnaire to develop the main content and
focus of your teleclass.
4.
Deliver Content - Once you've done the preparation
- it's time to stand and deliver - or you could sit instead
;-)
5.
Make an offer - Invite attendees to take a step closer
to you, e.g. request a consultation, visit your website, request
a report, etc. This will show you who is most interested.
6.
Follow-up - After the teleclass, follow-up via e-mail
with useful content and a restatement of your offering. For
example, on all my teleclasses I send out a copy of the audio
and usually include a useful handout too.
By
the way, I use the steps once every month to get 30 people registering
for the call, 12-20 turning up and then I average one new client
for every call.
I
hope the content of this issue was useful for you. Was it? Let
me know what you think. If you'd also like to see some other
topic covered in a future issue, just reply to this message.
So,
are you using teleclasses to attract clients?
